6/10/2021 Fishing Report - Tie Hack

Lunker at Tie Hack

Tie Hack Reservoir, located in Johnson county on the east side of the Big Horns, is a 63 surface acre lake named after the Tie Hacks of the old days that could fell a tree and hack out a railroad tie in record time.

Coming out of Buffalo we found the drive scenic and the traffic minimal. The lake was ours for the taking with the occasional family group stopping for a look around and photos.

Lake conditions were rough with the high winds blowing down the valley, but we found some good spots to use the wind to our advantage while shore fishing. Using spinning gear and Jake's brand spinners, we were able to land quite a few Rainbows despite the wind.

With ample shaded picnic locations and a nearby campground, Tie Hack is a prime location for some family fun. Just for the day or an overnight trip.

A good time was had by all and each of the kids were reeling them in- I recommend getting out here when you can.
